Turning a Personal Thank You into an Incredible Fundraising Effort
RIGBY’s Irene Twiss has raised an incredible £5,539 for local charity Queenscourt Hospice, following the compassionate care and support the hospice provided to Irene and her partner, Rob.
Irene has been part of RIGBY for 18 years as our Directors’ Administrator. After experiencing first-hand the care provided by Queenscourt Hospice, Irene and Rob wanted to find a meaningful way to give something back.
What began as an idea for a charity football day quickly grew into something much bigger, as friends, family and the local community came together to support the cause.
Irene explains:
“Rob and I wanted to think of a way to say thank you for the compassionate care they gave him and the support they gave me; a thank you just didn’t seem enough.
“They were having to reduce the number of beds because the charity funding they rely on was declining. We felt compelled to help.
“We thought of a charity football day at the Riverside and it escalated from there. Everybody wanted to help!
“Sadly, Rob never got to see it, but he had the best seat in the house up there. We are making it a yearly event.”
£5,539 Raised for Queenscourt Hospice
Through Irene’s determination and the generosity of everyone who supported the event, an outstanding £5,539 was raised for Queenscourt Hospice.
The hospice provides specialist palliative care and support for people across Southport, Formby and West Lancashire, making Irene’s fundraising particularly meaningful to RIGBY as a Southport-based business.
What started as Irene and Rob’s way of saying thank you has now become something they hoped could continue, with Irene planning to make the charity event an annual occasion.
Proud to Support Irene
Everyone at RIGBY is incredibly proud of Irene and the hard work she has put into making the event happen.
After 18 years as a valued member of the RIGBY team, seeing Irene turn such a personal experience into an opportunity to support a local cause means a great deal to all of us.
Congratulations to Irene, and a huge thank you to everyone who helped, donated or took part in making the event such a success.
